Camine, Sonria y Viva con Clínica Romero Health Walk '09

In Honor of Clínica Msr. Oscar A. Romero 25th Anniversary

For 25 years, Clínica Msr. Oscar A. Romero (Clínica Romero) has provided quality, affordable or free, healthcare, health education, and advocacy to the uninsured and underserved of greater Los Angeles. In celebration of this anniversary of service to the community, Clínica Romero held a Health Walk. Participants met at the 123 South Alvarado Street clinic for an Kick-Off Ceremony with California State Assemblymember Kevin de Leon, California State Assemblymember John A. Perez, and Los Angeles City Councilmember Ed P.Reyes. Univision Channel 34 KMEX-TV reporter Norma Roque was the master of ceremonies. Aztec Dancer led the crowd as it walked south on Alvarado and at MacArthur Park turned east onto 6th Street to Lucas Avenue. Heading north on Lucas they finished at Vista Hermosa Natural Park where they enjoyed a community health fair and entertainment program where U.S. Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard presented the clinic with a Congressional Record highlighting the clinic's contribution to public health. This event brought together the Pico-Union/Westlake and Boyle Heights/East Los Angeles community to celebrate, exercise, and enjoy the growth and success of Clínica Romero.
