October’s “potluck” style staff meeting was a success!

October 31st is one of the most notable American traditions continuously celebrated as Halloween.  It has become part of pop culture to visit haunted houses, watch scary films, and dress up in costumes and go door to door to say “trick or treat”.

On October 27th Clinica Msr. Romero’s Internal Communications Committee put together the first ever All Staff Halloween Potluck encouraging staff to bring traditional dishes to share with others and dress up in their favorite Halloween costume for a contest.  Aside from the all picnic held in September, this was a perfect opportunity for everyone to get together and have a good time, join in solidarity, share laughter and enjoy an array of delectable cuisine.  There were plenty of laughs and a lot of food.  Employees dressed up in costumes there was the sexy nurse, the alluring lady gangster, the innocent nun, the dead bride, the eccentric baseball player, the mischievous devil, and not to mention the provocative Frida Kahlo.  Throughout the year Clinica Msr. Romero’s staff works diligently with patients to provide quality service and this was a great opportunity for everyone to loosen up and partake in what resulted in a memorable occasion.  Clinica Msr. Romero would like to thank all of you for participating in this event and making it a success.

Nice and smooth afternoon: Clinica’s Annual Picnic

On a warm and breezy Saturday afternoon, Clinica held its annual picnic for its employees and their families; a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.  Food, games, piñatas and a dancing contest were but a few of the highlights of the event not to mention that out of the two hundred attendants, 100 children made the best of the day.  The items on the food menu included delicious tacos, hot-dogs, popcorn and drinks which were served until late in the afternoon.

On the Hula-Hoop contest, the first and only winner was the exotic Hula-Hoop expert herself, the one and only, Marina Luna. Eduardo, Nancy, Aurora and Nuvia were fine challengers but Marina, with little effort, was able to win the prize: an extra meal of chicken taquitos!

Maria Valdez with her natural MC skills served as the dance contest coordinator.  The dancing contest included in no way amateur dancers but rather professional dance couples such as Ivan Pacheco and Susana Morales, Ronald “John Travolta” Siliezar and Mayra “Paulina Rubio” Chavez.  Other contestants included Irma Azurdia and husband, Jose “Pimpinela” Mexia, Connie Corvera’s daughter Ileana and Eduardo Gonzalez’ step-daughter Nicole; Ana Torres’ little nephews Alan and Andy; Janeth Guerra’s daughters and son, Shirley, Nicole and Melvin; Nancy Martinez’s daughter Debbie and so many other rumba-salsa-merengue, punta, rock and roll and tango professionals.  The audience paid them a standing ovation for the brilliant and marvelous spectacle.  After an arduous and intense discussion the decision was finally made by the crowd and the winners were, by an almost unanimous decision, Ivan Pacheco and Susana Morales.  Clinica’s dancing contest had nothing to envy to the popular TV show Dancing with the Stars for it was even better in every aspect both exciting and entertaining!  Congratulations!!

Jackie Kreitz, Gloria Bernabel and Ronald were the piñata coordinators. Ronald exhibited his almost “chimpanzee ability” to climb trees, simply amazing! (only problem was he wanted to stay there for hours). This crew was able to ensure every child hit all three piñatas and enjoyed the candy.

At the end, the Executive Director, Dr. Eduardo Gonzalez expressed words of appreciation to the employees and thanked them for their attendance and participation in all the games and contests.

Thanks to the Communications Committee members Oscar Lopez, Maria Venegas, Idalia Xuncax, Nuvia Magaña, Ana Torres, Ana Monge, Ronald Siliezar and Margarita Calles for putting this event together. Same appreciation goes to Gloria Trujillo, Gloria Bernabel and daughters, Stephanie and Karlita, Rosario Mata, Aurora and Ruben Ureta, Jackie Kreitz, Miguel Sanchez, Alba and Nathalie, Mima Magaña, Maria Valdez and family.

Thank you all for making this event possible!
